can newer 1" axle bearings be retro to 3/4"

I just did this on my 06 FLHTI, I purchased a set of Street Glide wheels that came off of an 08' glide, replaced the wheel bearings and used the spacers from my old wheels and put it all back together. I had to reuse my original brake rotors though as there is a size difference between the rotors from the 08' and the rotors I already had on my 06'. Hope this tells you what you need to know.

The later wheels will, it is said, accept 3/4" and 25mm bearings, as well as 1" ones. So you could use a bearing kit to adapt later wheels. You may also need different axle spacers, or make adjustments, especially if you currently have tapered roller bearings.

so my 2001 roadglide has 3/4" axle bearings but are all the newer bikes different spacer thicknessess? if so it sounds like change the bearings and just space it accordingly.be nice to have a table with the years touring bikes and the size and spacer width stated. so i wont let year or axle size keep me from buying a set of wheels from a newer bike. thanks!

That's a great idea. I've never seen such a thing. What we need is a volunteer....
