Monkey bars... How hard is install?
Gonna get some monkey bars this winter and tackle it myself. Goin for the 10s . I got 09 FLHT. Don't have the $ to spend on labor, so for all the guys who has done this, how much of a PITA is the wiring. Any tricks to getting them through? Don't have ABS. Also new cables for 10's? Not really mechanically inclined, but I think I'm up to the challenge! Any help, advice, tips, or tricks appreciated!

Wiring is only a PITA because it takes patience. It's not hard, just can be tedious. Don't think you will need new cables for 10's but not 100% sure. One trick I used a piece of small chain to run through the bars, then taped the wiring and pulled it through. Another suggestion would be to go with a higher bar. I have 13's and could not imagine going any lower. In fact I am starting think I should have done 16's but I like the look of the 13's. Lots of info here.

On the wiring get the TBW extension to put the plug at the bottom. Don't heat shrink you wires too tight. You wan't them to be flexible and no wrinkles. Use a small chain to feed your pul line through. I used weedeater string, I stole that idea from someone here. I think you will need to go +4 on the clutch cable. Lots of guys have said it pulled even with the 10s. My two cents is go at least 12s. I started to go with 10s went with 12s, really like them but if I do it again I will go with 14s. The hands over the fairing thing is no big deal, they look great, and they are much more comfortable.

Dont let nobody b/s ya. they are a pita to install! If your UP for the challange, sounds like your ready? I used vasoline and kept the original heat wrap on. Tape your weed eater string on, and lube it up w/lots of petroleum. 10" bars measure out at 12-1/2", are very comfy and my hands aint above my shoulders.Make sure Yaffe sends you the instructions, they are a MUST for install
