In 2010 they were in all, prior to that it was a CA thing. In headpipe.

I forget if it was 09 or 10, but they have to be in the headpipe. They need a heat to work and need to be closer to the exhaust port. Just like a car.

Can the head pipe be changed, and will it run better? Looking at a 2010 screaming eagle but it does not run like I expected. Will this help? also the exhaust has slip on's and sounds different then other bikes with the same exhaust.

The Cat will effect the sound. For example, I bought a set of Fuelmoto's Dyna Tuned Mufflers for my 08 UC. The sound was good. Deep rumble, just what I wanted. After running them awhile, they got louder! I was thinking about ordering the quiet baffle from Fuelmoto, but instead, I took them off when I traded for the 2010 RK I have. I put the Jackpot's on the RK and they are much quieter with the cat in the head pipe. I've thought about removing the cat, but I'm reading mixed results on here from guy's that have removed them. As far as the running, my bike runs great with the setup you see in my Sig. JMO

Throw it in the trash, buy a PC-V and get on a real good running bike.
