I have always done just a stage 1, maybe bars, added lighting, and maybe a different seat. Stage 1 to add a little more performance and yes, sound. Seat for my butt or because I like to switch from a solo look back to 2-up touring. Added lighting is for addtional safety. Bars for my comfort and because I like the look.

I think I am like a lot of people, it's a hobby not transportation. I only do about 6000 miles a year all for fun and enjoy changing the bike up some, also a hobby.

I personalize pretty much everything with wheels and an engine I own, starting with exhaust. I'm not going too crazy with the road king though, the 103 with an air cleaner is peppy enough for me so I won't feel the need to break into the motor, at least at the present time.

Like several others here I'm worried about ruining the reliability if I go too far.

I plan to leave mine stock, other than cosmetic upgrades, because it runs great and is very reliable. I wouldn't mind going to a true dual exhaust setup, but might end up selling it
due to not touring as much as I thought we might and my wife is getting nervous riding on the back with all the inattentive drivers on the road.

A stock bike gets to be a bore.It will cause you to loose enthusiasm for riding it.Wake it up!!!

You ride yours the way you want.

I'll ride mine the way I want.

Why do you feel the need to run people down because they choose to do something different than you?

Have you ever walked out of a bar and almost gotten on the wrong bike, because you can always find two of the same HD's on the sales floor. I haven't either and I invested $3500 bucks just to keep from doing so.

heres one thing that i have noticed though. when i see new bikes, i'm usually looking for changes that the owner has made to it to customize it. but as bikes get older, i look for the stock bikes that have been unmolested and unchanged. its kinda weird that way.

i do agree with what someone else mentioned. if you leave yours stock, it actually will stand out and be different it seems. as almost everyone customizes theirs.

After spending so much cash on this bike, I'm sure I'll leave my next bike stock!! Except exhaust. Oh, and air cleaner....and ah, of course fuel manager & probably cams. And that's it!! Almost forgot... new seat... I hate stock seats! And most likely a different windshield. But that's it for sure! LOL!!

Edit: OH!! And Wheels... Next bike has gotta get some nice custom wheels!!
