Default I want to put a radio/speakers in my standard flht

What exactly do I need to buy to do this? I've done plenty of stereo's in my vehicles.

I'm seeing the kits for $500 plus and that seems crazy for a cheap head unit and basically standard 5 1/4's. $100 radio and $40 speakers....something doesn't add up here.

That's no magical $200 harness. Seems like the corvette tax is in full swing with these harley's.

You want a Corvette...you pay the tax....
Same with a Harley.....
Biktronics is the way to go....I bought a used set-up off craigslist but took a few months to find one....
You could get a stock radio...BUT you must make sure year is compatable!!!
Contact HDF Member Harleypingman... he knows his stuff!!!

Depends on your needs- A while back I was looking at buying a new FLHT.If I had done the deal I would have thrown all my play money into a KickA$$ Amp & Speakers to match it and run an iPod directly through it. NO CD,Radio,Handlebar Controls,No BS.... Just a cool looking faceplate with an on/off toggle switch and volume control

Biketronics are best, after install you can use handlebar controls.. install is easy and yes a manual will be helpful but tech support is great from Biketronics

No need for a cd or tape player. FM and Ipod hook-up and bar controls are a must though.

The wiring harness is available seperate. I just need to know which one to get for my 07 flht. I also need to know what mounting kit to get.

Those sony head units are nothing special nor are the hawg wired speakers. Someone just put together a system and put a huge price on it because they have the right wire harness interface.

Well, I guess they are charging the $200 for their knowledge to make the harness.
You are right, its not that hard.
Get yourself a manual.
Go get the correct plugs/pins at the dealer and tools to crimp the pins then build your own wiring harness.

I agree with this statement. I have a FLHTwith a Kenwood head unit installed. The CD player works ok but does have tendencies to skip. It also has IPOD direct control and it is wonderful. Check out some new units from Sony. The front slot flips open and instead of a CD player, a carousel turns out to load in your IPOD. Tucks into the deck safe/secure and a ton of features are available for you..

I have an 05 FLHT, I installed a Kenwood Excelon unit which is their real nice unit. Use CDs, Ipod, and a place to plug a flash drive in. Haven't used that option yet, but I think that'll be pretty cool. W/ the Excelon speakers and Kenwood Tweeters that I put in the blank holes on the sides of the radio on a standard, it was about 400. Sounds pretty good too. W/ a tall screen, I can ghear it good on the highway w/ Rineharts. Put on a shorter screen and i hear it less. No handlebar controls though, didn't have em on the last radio either. They'd be nice but I don't feel that it's worth the $ people want for them.

+1 I have the USB drive. About the only time I use anything else is if I pick up a new CD while I'm on the bike & listen to it in the CD player till I get home and burn it to a memory stick.
