Default Went to the Darkside(car tire)today

Had a Dunlap SP5000 put on my 09 Road King, awesome! The indy mechanic, who built allot of custom bikes, that put it on took it for a ride said this would cut way down on his tire sales. He was really impressed how it rode and handled.Don't think I'll be going back to a MT,just wish I could find one to fit my 02.Thanks to TooEasy for all the info.

How many miles you got on it? What is the advantage to having a car tire, besides mileage. How many miles do you expect to get from it? How's the high speed cornering? How's the slow speed handling? How difficult was it to mount and balance? I'm getting better than 15k on my Dunlop D407 rear tire. They are expensive however. Car tire would have to be cheaper.

I checked a couple of places and the Tire rack wants 134.00 for the Dunlop SP5000 size 195/60/16

I just picked the bike up this late afternoon, put about 40 miles on it.Was cold out(36 degrees),the tire really hugged the road nice in curves. On straight way it was as smooth as glass.Maybe 30-40 thousand on the tire?Tooeasy has a thread(car tire on my Road King),he goes in detail on the subject.

I ride with a guy who went to the dark side for awhile...he saw the light and stepped back into reality. Turns out they don't corner so well. Absolute mistake to put a car tire on a motorcycle...just hope you aren't one to want to sue if it blows. Sidewalls on car tires are not designed to cope with the constant leaning that is done on a motorcycle which causes stresses the tire wasn't designed for. I confirmed all of this with a Michelin engineer friend the first time I heard about this.

when I'm cruising down the freeway in heavy traffic at 80+ mph, the last thing I'm thinking about is if I saved a few dollars on my tires.
