Nova Scotia, New Bruswick, PEI, and yes Ontario has safety inspections too.

All insurance contracts have some fine print about the owners responsibility to ensure it is road worthy. Unless you get it in writing from your broker that a car tire is OK they have the legal option to contest it. After an accident an independent adjuster working for the company will look at the bike - unless it is a minor claim in which case they will just take the repair shops word. The bigger the claim the more they will look into it.
Not sure what it is like in the US but in Canada bikes have to get a road worthiness safety inspection every 1-2 years depending on province and they affix a sticker to the forks with an expiry date. If you are in a traffic stop with an out of date sticker or without one the bike gets towed and there is a ~$400 fine. Bikes with a car tire or tires worn to the wear bars will not pass inspection.[/quote]
Where in Canada? Not in Ontario.

I'm not from Canada, but, according to R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 611; SCHEDULE 6; part 4; line 3; sub-section:
(g) no vehicle shall be fitted with a tire that,
No mention of "car tire", however it does say "proper size and application" under line 3, but I would think it would spell that out specifically in (i).

(g) no vehicle shall be fitted with a tire that,
(i) bears the wording “not for highway use”, “farm use only”, “competition circuit use only” or any other wording or lettering indicating that the tire was not designed for highway use, or
(ii) bears the letters “SL”, “NHS” or “TG” after the tire designation.

Hey MICKEY! We don't need luck, we have good ole american ingenuity, we strive to make the things we love better, faster, stronger, safer! I'll take my cracker jack prize and put it on the shelf for everyone to see, then they will know.....I didn't follow along with the rest of the sheep, I stepped outside of the box and missed the slaughterhouse!

I can agree with you on doing things that are better, stronger, faster and safer. I personally don't think a car tire belongs on a motorcycle, nor safe to do so.

Already did.
The videos I've seen don't show any negatives to running a CT. Can you provide links showing such negatives or reasons to dissuade you?

Yeah! Right on OSB! I mean, last time I was at Willow Springs for an AMA Superbike racing weekend I noticed all the top bikes ran King TourPaks and saddlebags. So a skinny car tire on a 1000 pound Ultra Limited is totally the same as a super-stickey racing tire on a 2 stroke race-only motorcycle. Yall need to remove those cager tires because racebike.
I mean, you have to be a RUB or something if you don't scrub the boards at every turn regardless of speed. Tires wear on the edges, not the middle. Real bikers only wear the rear tire. On the edges. Yeah, the front tire should never touch the ground before the kickstand. And, <other Internet Tough Guy sayings to make me look badass> as well!
