Went to the Darkside(car tire)today

I will be going to the darkside next week as my limited needs a new rear shoe.
Going with the dunlop sp sport 5000 195-60-16
will post what I think about it, however being an owner of the new courtyard 25( former 29 dreams) the people I have seen with CT on their bike all say the same. that they love it and they will not go back to a MT. so I am going to give the CT a try.

Deuuuce wrote, "And finally, why aren't CT tires used in motorcycle racing or track days? Because the lean angles are too far for the tire design and mounting, correct?"
Now tell us why mc race tires aren't used on the street since they're so great on the race track?
You also asked earlier why car tires aren't used on the front of motorcycles. As a former trike owner I can tell you it's due to sizing. There's no car tire slim enough to fit on the front of our baggers without modifying the forks.

Here's an old picture of what appears to be car tires on the front of these bikes.
Second and third picture is of a front motorcycle tire from the '70's copied from an old Custom Chopper magazine. Note the similarity in shape to a car tire.
Yes, motorcyle tires have evolved the past four decades, but so have car tires. The idea of a car tire on the back of a bike is nothing new....just ask any old gray beard that rode choppers in the 60's and '70's.

For those who think a motorcycle will stress the side wall of a car tire....here's a car tire being tested. Please show us any motorcycle that can put this kind of stress on any rear tire.

For the same reason HD baggers aren't used in motorcycle racing or track days.

MC race tires wear too quickly, do not have a tread pattern, and are not DOT approved. But there are plenty of choices for dual-duty on the street and track.
I would guess a CT on the front would a disaster. If it wasn't wouldn't a small brand try to capture that niche?

For those who think a motorcycle tire has a larger contact patch just because it's rounded, check out this video from Bridgestone Tires, explaining their GP motorcycle tires. Stop the video at 28 seconds and again at 1:10 and take a close look. Remember, this video is from the tire manufacturer, not a darksider.
