Had a Dunlap SP5000 put on my 09 Road King, awesome! The indy mechanic, who built allot of custom bikes, that put it on took it for a ride said this would cut way down on his tire sales. He was really impressed how it rode and handled.Don't think I'll be going back to a MT,just wish I could find one to fit my 02.Thanks to TooEasy for all the info.
Maybe if enough have good luck w/ the car tires, I may want to try it..
I seen this tire on the back of an Ultra and had a chance to speak to the owner, he told me he gets 50,000 miles per tire and swears to the handling of the bike. Pays $68 for the tire and $35 for mount and balance. He has been running these tires for sometime now. This will be my next tire.
I have about 5000 miles on my ct and still looks like it did the day i put it on. I love the way it handles on the interstate and on the back roads. Have been leaning with more confidence and have no problems in traffic. I also get alot of second looks at every icehouse i stop at.
I've read a little, not a lot but some about this. I have only seen the later bikes with the wider tires doing this. What about the earlier bikes like my 06, I have not seen pics or read of anyone.
Motorcycle tires are made with a softer compound for better grip. If you lose traction with one tire in a car, no big deal. But on a scoot..... This is why car tires last longer because they are a harder compund designed for long life. But to each his own.
Your statement is dead wrong. The car tires have a softer compound and resist spinning more so then the harder compound MC tire. That is why they wear longer. The harder MC tire compound has more of a tendency to spin a little which equals more wear.
