My 175 barely makes the bike feel any different, and now I can't tell at all since my motor reflexes got used to it after about a week. (last year - still on same tire)

My buddy has a 205 on his and I can sorta feel it a bit at that width - but HE's used to that width - and so forth.
The wider the tire or change in tire, the more crossover effect you'd naturally have. It's like getting on a different bike and riding.

What bike/year does he have and what brand of tire?

Default Back to the darkside

Just put an SP5000 (195/60r16) on my Roadglide. Too cold here to ride much. Sure rides better w/30psi in a rear tire. Now if those naysayers like MT`s so much they should be trying to buy my take off 180 w/less than 4k mi. but I bet they are just about blowing smoke.

Quadancer, Your 2005 Heritage came stock with a MU85-16 Rear, is this correct? I believe the wide started in 2007 with the larger engine and 6 speed, anyway, I believe the mu85-16 is equal to a 150/80-16. I'm looking for a size that would for my 03 Heritage and / or my 04 Roadking. If the 175/75-16 worked on yours, it should work on mine.
What part of Acworth do you live in?
Thanks,
Mike

My question was not innocent. I'd like to know if he has a 09 or newer Touring bike. If he has one and a 205 tire fits on the back without a problem, then I could be very tempted to try a 205/60-16 General Altimax (or Exclaim HP) on the back of my Ultra Classic. I was not really excited at the idea of using a 195 Dunlop SP5000. I didn't have a good experience with this tire on one of my cars.

Mine uses the 175/75/16 Vredestein, and yes, it did have a 150 in there.

My buddy has an '06 VTX. We put a 205/something/15 Dunlop Signature on it - he absolutely won't part with it. It has sort of rounded corners, which is why we chose it.

From all my reading, that Altimax is supposed to be about the best handling tire out there. Everybody swears by it.

I have the '06 EGC. Anyone find an exact match for that frame? I might have passed up a good post jumping to the end.

I read 20 pages and here's what I think of the banter. If I was on the AAA touring website and posted a topic "Motorcycle Touring", I'd be pi$$ed if half the people told me cars were the only way to travel and I was going to kill myself. I hear this $hit every time I vacation on my bike. I'm looking for like minded people.

At least with this topic we can discuss the different types of tires and their sizes.

Anyone having luck finding a 175/75/16 tire here in the states? I should have bought the Comtrac when it was available.

Who thought they'd take it down? We all wish we had another, and the search is on.
I just checked my DS forums new posts and there's none about the search today.
