[quote=CSMHOG;10420254]Let's think about it for a minute. 4000 lb car divided by 4 tires, 1000 lbs per tire, tire remains flat when taking corners. 900 lb bike with 2 passengers and baggage = 1375 lbs, 700 lbs per tire, tires DO NOT remain flat taking corners. The fact they DO NOT remain flat when cornering put puressure on the bead.

No they don't remain flat. Both sidewalls flex and one side or the other of the tread, opposing side, does lift up from the force.....think about it.

You just made my point ... thanks. Wonder if insurance would cover anyone unfortunate enough to have an accident using car tires. I would think they'd use that fact as an out if it were tire related. Just saying .... Wishing you all the luck in the world.

My 09 RK was totaled out with a car tire on the rear. Nothing was said. No claim denial, no arguements. People need to quit projecting opinions as facts.

As for all the tire engineers out there were do you get a tire engineering degree my son is interested in engineering and can't find a school that offers it.

If you have not tried it why bash it. .I personnaly think ape bars are ugly, dangerous ang illegal in some states depending on the height but it simply does not effect me so I'm quite on it. If I was interested in them I would frequent a thread that covered it and ask questions. but i would not go there to argue or insert my opinion when its not wanted.

I will be installing a Potenza run flat 195/55r16 on my 12 RK in the next few weeks because the OEM has 12000 miles and is starting to wear. I had one on the 09 and loved it.

Keeping in mind that the sidewalls of a CT are DESIGNED to flex, and on radials they do it constantly, unless you put too much air in them. Temperature tells the story and you'll find the CT's run cooler or equal to your MT after tearing the living sheeyit out of places like the Dragon in the summer heat.
I know this because I DO it and I carry a laser thermometer for tires, bearings, tranny and so forth.

I ran a car tire for two years and over 22,000 miles on a VTX 1300 with no problems. Have 3 friends running them also, no issues. Well, not after the fist few hundred miles anyway.

Nope, can't find a Potenza on Bridgestone's bike tyre website! Can't find a Potenza runflat tyre that size either....

I don't have a question because I won't run on a car tire ... and I'm not going to read over 1000 posts about mounting a car tire on a motorcycle either.

Perhaps if I lived in Maine and I was snowed in with 15' of snow outside, but at lass, I live in Florida.
