Sometimes, I get on here and read the "against" posts and think to myself; "Self, you gonna die a horrible death on that dang C/T'ed machine". Then I go out and get to experience the smoooooooth ride I get from the darksided bike all over again. I usually have to take the extra long loop to get home cause I don't want the thrill to end.

If a tire fails, it has nothing to do with it being on a motorcycle. Got it?

I was told there was a mysterious anomoly that involves a car tire bead separating at the bead when mounted on a motorcycle wheel. The "teller" was a guy in a Dunlop Booth at the Milwaukee Rally. My common sense can`t get a grip on this theory and with over 15,000 mi. on CT`s I`ll continue. I even got negletfull once and was running 23# in it with no anomalies. How can a motorcycle put more stress at the bead than a car?

Very simple! When a bike banks in a turn the loads it puts into the tyre are quite different to those a car puts into a tyre when cornering.

Lets see, a car weight is on average 4000 lbs, thus around 1000lbs per tire to hold up. A mortorcycle at heaviest 1000lb, thus 500lbs at most. I think the ct can take it.

Nah....otherwise everytime you cornered too fast in your car you would need to call a wrecker because all four of your tires popped off the rims.

Let's see! That 4000lb car you mention is not likely to be riding on the narrow tyres CT users are putting on their bikes, most of which are cheap foreign imports normally used on old world elderly cars.

So revisitig your figures, I think you will find a 2,000lb banger running on four tyres is out weighed by a 1500lb bike running with most of it's weight on just one. No contest........

1500 LB. BIKE??? Your bike weighs TWICE what mine does? I'm not even there with our full camp gear and trailer behind. Funny how
millions of logged miles on thousands of bikes with no problems has no merit with some people.

Let's think about it for a minute. 4000 lb car divided by 4 tires, 1000 lbs per tire, tire remains flat when taking corners. 900 lb bike with 2 passengers and baggage = 1375 lbs, 700 lbs per tire, tires DO NOT remain flat taking corners. The fact they DO NOT remain flat when cornering put puressure on the bead.

I really wish this thread would die. It reminds me of our country’s different political strategies and it's going to take a catastrophe to make someone realize who was right and who was wrong.
