This isn't the first time I've heard people talk about a discount on a BAL. It seems to me that the company is keeping a tight control over the price and who sells them unlike many HD parts that end up being sold on Ebay for a discount through Ebay stores.

I think it's probably good company policy NOT to discount the product. So many companies sell batches of their products to discount houses and this leaves the dealers out in the cold.

Very funny! It reminds me of a post I read and my rebuttal the other day about J & S Jacks, but yours was better...

BTW I love mine and never strap the bike down.

What's that you say? The company is too tight to give such a discount, sell more lifts and make a profit margin? Did I read you right?

Anyway, we should try it again. What's there to lose?

The dealer is going to get them at "cost." I inquired with BAL a while back to sell them to all the guys on the forums but decided that it was not worth anyone's while as I would still have to sell very close to retail to break even. My goal was to get they guys here on the forum a deal. No such luck.

I am not bashing or saying anything negative about BAL, they are welcome to do business how they see fit. I wish it would have worked out, but it seems if you want a BAL, you must pay full price.

My discount of 25% came from my dealer after I turned them on to BAL. I never thought of it from the angle that I just got BAL a new retailer.

Next time cut your deal up front before you open up new distribution for a manufacturer. They probably aren't paying a commision to a salesperson so they can afford to take a little hit on one light.

Well for the most part it sounds like you guys think Im Crazy... :-)

Thats cool like I said its not that big of a deal but I was honestly surprised and happened to be on here so I started typing.

As far as it being difficult for them to give a discount it would be pretty easy. They would call Harley and say a guy is coming in today give him a discount and we will credit your account. Even if they only sold 6 lamps that would be $1200 and 10% off to me would have been $20.

Everybody at BAL was very nice and called me back as promised I was just surprised. AND I still stopped by the dealer and ordered the light today saving $20 wasnt going to change my mind.

I will post some pics and/or vids after install so you guys can check it out.

Probably not "crazy" just unrealistic expectations of reward in the absence of a clear deal between you and BAL. How's BAL to know that your dealer acted solely on your initiative? Or how hard BAL had to work to get the account opened after your intial suggestion. You may be giving yourself more credit for the account being opened than BAL pereceives.

If you're going to do what you did with the expectation of benefit from the vendor, get it straight from the beginning. I've had my dealer take on BAL and Motolights (even helped them sell some when I've been around to show a customer my bike), but I don't have any arrangement for special discounts or otherwise, and don't expect any.
