Local shop here does a winter special 50% off kit and 50% off labor for front ends. Cost me $402 out the door. Same for SE motor upgrades.
I was going to do mine myself but my dealer had a similar winter special plus a HD promotion that was another $100 off. I decided it was too good a deal to pass up.
With the complete chrome front end did that include "CHROME UPPER FORK SLIDER COVERS" 45969-97, plus "CHROME FRONT END KIT" 46371-08. What I'm trying to figure out is if I need the upper fork slider covers with the front end kit or not. BTW your bike looks great!
My understanding is that in order to do this job the whole front end has to come off; batwing, radio, inner fairing, etc... $250 is right. It's a lot of work. A 4hr job per HD service dept. If you don't know what you're doing it will take much longer...
I did chrome exchange on ebay. It's cheaper to exchange. Cost me $190 shipped to me for exchange but I had to pay return shipping to CA from NC... so less than $250 exchange.
I just had this done and with exchange and labor my total cost was $556
Never thought of that, good idea. No sense having an extra front end laying around, I'd just try to sell the old forks anyways. Without labor the front end kit will be $368.00 that is with the 20% off , so the exchange would save me roughly $178.00 plus return shipping.

Sorry but I can't answer that. I just told them at the dealer I want the complete chrome front-end. I had several other accessories installed at the same time.
chrome front/rear wheels, chrome forks, chrome cow bells (slider covers), polished rotors, willyshiney spacers that cover the rotor bolts, axle nut and caliper bolt covers is all I did and my Ultra looks awesome but...
there is no end to what you can do when it comes to chrome!
Mine is the Harley chrome fork kit and it came with the cowbells and every little screw, spacer, and doohickey you need.I polished the stock rotor, but left the calipers black. But changed out the bolts on the calipers to chrome
