Rogue Chopper Scavenger
Ok, I did a search on the forum and found many threads on this subject but none answered my question. I watched their video on changing oil on a touring bike and you have to take out the plug with pipe threads that is next to the oil drain. You then have to screw in their fitting to flow clean oil into the system.
My question is this the plug with pipe threads I hear all the horrow stories about i.e. stripped threads, cracked cases, etc.? Anyone have experience with this?

I just changed my oil this passed weekend....and yea, the plug next to the drain plug is pretty much never taken out.
You certainly don't need to take it out just to change the oil.....that's kind of why there's the drain plug next to it; to drain the oil.
In fact, in the owner's manual, it specifically says NOT to undo the pipe-threaded plug.

I removed the pipe-threaded plug on my bike without a problem. I use that spot for my oil temp sending unit. I have heard of people having to heat it up in order to break it loose. Guess I just got lucky. BTW - That plug and the normal drain plug is in the oil pan on a touring bike, so no fear of damaging cases.

I've seen that plug removed many times with no problems. Just don't over torque it when tightening it up. The Rogue Scavenger kit that uses that plug is confusing. A buddy just bought the kit and it has the fitting that goes in that plug. The problem is there is an internal baffle behind that plug and you can't screw in the fitting they provided. I joked with him and said he might have to take a screwdriver and bend that baffle back. He wasn't amused.

All you guys are making a BIG DEAL out of nothing.
I've been using the Scavenger on my touring bikes for ovber 3 years. Used it on my 07 and then recently on my 11. The plug comes out easily and seals easily with a small amount of thread sealer. The adapter screws into the oil intake for the oil pump so clean oil is sucked into and through the system to get rid of all the oil oil trapped in the engine and oil cooler if you have one.
PM me if you need help. This IS one thing that I am an expert in. LOL

I have a 2006 Road King and a 2008 UC, the Scavenger website says they have a model that will work in both my bikes....is this true? The '08 service manual shows some kind of a shroud that has a hole in it behind the drain plug but not the "pipe plug". I do have a oil temp senser in the pipe plug hole, no problem installing it a couple of years back.
Just lookin for some expert info.
Thanks

You will remove the temp sender to install the adapter in that hole.
