Question Houston Tx December Rental

Hello,

I was looking to rent a bike in Houston when down there for a course in December.

I just thought I'd ask to see what was availible. I've never rented before, but I thought I'd ask.

I've gone to EagleRider, and prior to calling I thought I'd ask those who may know...

Thanks

H

If you rent from a Harley dealership it doesn't sound to bad until you go to pay, then it's like WHAT?

I can't remember exactly but:
it's about a $100 for a day rental
sales tax about $10
Insurance about $35 (they made me buy theirs saying mine wouldn't work)
That's almost $150 per day,
then they tell you the deductable is like $1,000. So you are liable for the first $1,000 of damage or if it gets stolen. I think you have to give them your credit card, then they will refund if they find no damage.

I only did this before I bought a Street Glide to make sure that's what I wanted.
I wanted to ride one all day, not just a test ride.

Of course I could be wrong about all this because I'm getting old and my memory is bad.......and my wife's not here to correct me.

The dealers around here charge a daily rate of $149 for a touring model. They offer optional insurance. What is not optional is the loss damage waiver (LDW) - here it's about $24 daily. That buys down your financial responsibility to the two grand they use as a security deposit against your credit card. Taxes vary by location. If renting, check with your insurance company as some don't extend your coverage onto a rental bike. With no optional items it would cost almost two bills to rent a touring rig here for a day.

chiming in to tell you not to tell the rental company you'll be taking a class with their bike as they may have a policy rental bikes aren't to be used for classes. Assuming you're doing the RLAP in Sugar Land. I rented a bike in CA last year for a class I took and ran across this issue. I just didn't tell them I was taking a class with it.
