Any experiences good or bad with black ceramic pipes? Thought i saw a post before about rusting quickly. Anyone with the black Rinehart true duals have anything to share?
I had my Muzzy pipes ceramic coated on my last bike. They looked great when fresh but they do tend to fade over time, especially up near the heads. My first coating also bubbled a bit just after installing them. The coater ( Classic Coatings) blamed it on bad material and re-did it for free (nice but a PIA as it was in riding season). I found that if anything brushed against them (jeans/leathers/etc) that they could spot from the contact. My biggest fear that never happened was something melting on them such as rain pants, road debris, etc. That would probably be a permanent mark...
Perhaps in the future ... tried to get some was told to wait so went with some Good Duals on Sale in Chrome .. My front end is Black and thought the Pipes would look great that way as well ... maybe one day ...
I had my entire exhaust ceramic coated (professionally) and had no problems. I recently swapped w/black true duals from Bub so we'll see how they work out over time. Guess they can always be re-coated, if something happens...
I have black Thunderheader 2into1 pipes. Look great, but I added the heat shields and they obviously are not ceramic coated but painted. The started to rust the first season I had them on.
to the op i have the rinehart's in black have 14,000 miles on them. since i switched exhausts & no problems whatsoever..they havent faded or rusted at all..they are the one made by bub if that helps/makes a difference.
