If you bothered to read the label it states that it is good for 2 year after opening. I know it is like the owners manual. Who would ever think of reading instructions?

Contrary to what you might think it does have a shelf life once the bottle is opened. Buy the smallest bottle available and use it as a stabilizer from a fresh bottle. During the year use the rest of the bottle for its fuel system cleaning abilities.

Hmmm, my label got old and yellow and peeled off. Wonder if it's too old. Nah, I'll just let the neighbor borrow that one.

If you use red Stabil that is older than 2 years and have no problem then there's a very good chance you wouldn't have had any problem not using it.

Here's the next generation Stabil question:

Which Stabil are you using? Red or blue/green. Standard or Marine. The more ethanol in your gas, the greater the fuel stabilization requirements. Still using red or have you moved up to Marine????

I used to use Stabil for storage and Seafoam regularly for maintenance. Found out Seafoam is good for storage too, so I no longer buy Stabil.

If it was $1000.00 a bottle I'd probably use it, but why worry when it's $5 - $10/bottle (depending on size). If you're within the 2-yr window - use it. If not, get new. I've been using SeaFoam year round so there's never a need to worry.

It's also in the instructions that you can double-up on the dosage and it'll give you two years of stabilization. I use this dosage along with some Marvel Mystery Oil in my '66 Vette to stabilize and keep rust out of the gas-tank interior. The car only gets driven about 50mi/yr, and when the gas gets just short of two years old I siphon it out and use it in my mower.

Use it. If it can keep your gas good for a winter, it can definitely keep itself good for more than a year. I used to have a large container that I used for my snowmobile and motorcycle for several years.
