I do have (or at least, "had") an 8" Clearview recurve. Not bad -- Not tall enough for me (still rattled the glasses - but not nearly as bad as the stock "shield").
I'm 6'0" -- If you're in the 5'10" range, I think 8" would probably do you well. I'd probably go with the LRS "Ultra" flip though -- More extreme of a curve.
