Post 2011 Limited OTD Dealer Pricing!

I bought a 2011 Limited about 2 weeks ago. I love the bike but I'm now going back and looking at all the numbers. Partly because I just got the paperwork from the credit union.

I must say that I'm shocked at all the charges. All of us know how the dealers usually don't budge on MSRP but this is ridiculous. Yes, it's too late for me to do anything about it but I'm curious.

Here are the charges:

MSRP: $24,699
Prep + ship: $1390
Sales tax: $1318.06
Inventory tax: $58.99
License: $48.80
Title: $33.00
Inspection: $14.50
Documentary fee: $50.00
================
Total: $27,612.35

Trade in: $5000
Deposit: $500

OTD: $22,612.35

The only *deal* they made me was giving me an extra $1,000 on the trade. Initially they offered $4,000 but then offered $5,000, which is good.

I would like to hear from others on what your "Deal" was when you bought your bike. I feel like I was not treated very favorably at this dealership. No, it's not my first time of buying a motorcycle - I've owned many since I was 16, now 52. This is my first Harley.

Which "Limited" did you buy? I bought a 2011 FLHTK about 4 weeks ago, here is the breakdown:

Unit Price: $23118.36
Installed Accessories: $181.64
Freight: $495.00
Assembly and Prep: $895.00

Sub Total: $24690.00

Vehicle Tax: $1543.13
Title: $33.00
License: $48.80
Inspection: $14.50
Doc Fee: $50.00
Vehicle Inventory Tax: $38.56

Total Out the door: $26,417.99

Looks like they gave you an extra grand on your trade and then tacked it on to your sales price.

I'm sure someone else here got a better deal than I did and I'm also sure someone else paid more than you did. It's the nature of the beast! :-)

Woah...wait a minute. What color did you buy...that could be the extra grand.

Too late now to worry about it.

Enjoy your new toy!

You don't really want to read a bunch of posts about those that got a better price.
Trust me, you don't wanna read that stuff.

Well if the MSRP was not negotiable, it looks like the only other area to bicker on would be the prep and ship. The rest looks like fees and taxes they have to collect.
I paid similar to you, except less on the ship and prep, but I live in California where sales tax was about $2500. and license was $369.

Oh well, it's only money. Lets ride!

Just saw your signature line...looks like we got about the same deal. Also looks like you're from Texas with the exact same fees. It looks to me like you got as good a deal as you were going to get! :-)

Ok, thanks everyone for the replies! I do feel better now, knowing I paid about average. I did get the Rootbeer color scheme and it's gorgeous. I love the bike!

My first Harley and new to HDF. I already feel like 'family'!

I was dealing on a 2011 Road Glide Ultra, Merlot color, list is $23059. freight is $380. from Harley, set up is $200. dealer also throws in 1st service with every deal. The final sale price was $22400. including freight, set up & 1st service. They are also giving me time to sell my bike but will do the paper work so I can use it as a trade in, which lowers the sales tax. A second dealer in the area charges about $500. set up but was very willing to match whatever best deal I come up with.

Sounds like a good dealer, I wish they could all be that way! I think the dealer I did business with in San Antonio just doesn't make many deals. Part of it may be the economy rebounding and also being the most popular model. I could've done some shopping around but this one is really close to the house.

I bought mine in August (In Toronto). I tried 4 different dealers and the best I could do was free prep and ship, and 10% off any accessories I had installed for delivery. Actually, they extended the 10% discount and are still giving it to me even now.
Every dealer told me that they could not touch the MSRP. They have a limited supply and have no problem selling the 2011 FLHTKs. If I wanted to but a 2010 they would drop about $1500 of the price. But I wanted Vivid Black and I wanted a 2011.
