Default Bump Turned Off Cruise

I was coming home from work this afternoon going 75 in 6th gear. The cruise control was set. I hit a pothole (not huge) and the cruise control turned off. I pushed resume and I was back up to 75, so I suspect there's no serious problem.

I had not experienced this before and was just wondering if others had the same thing happen to them.

It's suppose to do that. Normal. I've had it happen to me too.

It's supposed to do that? I just thought it bumped hard enough to trip the cancel switch at the foot pedal.

When in cruise control you are relinquishing an element of control over the bike.

I work a lot with control systems and there is always a lot of consideration given to how you want a system to respond to exceptional "what if scenario's". In cruise control this would be to make the system safe. Inconvenient yes, safer option - almost certainly

Well, let me just say, "I think it's suppose to do that." I'm not basing that on any know facts to me. I just know it happens to me and I concluded it was a safety feature.

This happened to me several times on my 5500 mile trip to Sturgis this past summer. I believe the cruise control senses a sudden increase in RPM from the tire leaving the ground and cancels itself.
