Default Hog Tunes VS J&M

I was going to buy the J&M speakers for my Street Glide until a friend said they suck because the magnets are too small. After looking I see what he's saying, but is it true? Dose the smaller magnet make a difference? The ones on the Hog Tune speakers are HUGH!

Don't believe what your 'buddy' tells you.........
I have a set of the J & M 7.25" speakers in my '08 R/G....with no amp.
These speakers literally pound out the tunes.....crystal clear music
that we can hear over the Rush 2" baffles while ripping down the roads.

I'm very happy with my speakers I purchased from Dr V-twin....

I put J&Ms on my bike. Don't know what size magnets they have. I will
say that they are better than the stock ones.
I replaced the rears (Ultra) and they did not provide such a dramatic
improvement that I heard in the fronts.
I am happy with J&M...and don't know anyone with Hogtunes to compare.

I've got J&Ms front and rear, and I'm running the amp and a Hogtunes Pod. At 80mph with earplugs in I can hear my music clearly.

not passing judgement just my experience.

hog tunes(~120$)had more base, blew them up in a year.(have there amp and tweeter pod still on bike)

went to J&M 7.25 (~220$) sound clearer but less base been 6 months have not blown yet?

all in all both are adaquite, substancial bump over stock can hear fairly well at speed

My j&m 7.25's SUCK. No bass, no depth, sounds like a cheap transistor radio speaker.

Mine don't sound that way........plenty of bass and depth, and the guitar riffs and ivory banging of Skynyrd is crystal clear.

Of course YMMV depending on installation

I have J&M 5-1/4" speakers in the fairing with the seperate tweeters built into the grilles and I absolutely love them. The are so much better than the stock speakers, crisp and clear at any volume.

I had both the hogtunes ****** out in about a month. I list to metal and they blew azz. I currently have the J&M plus the Sony Marine unit. Best combo, do what I did, buy the J&M speaker, Sony head unit and Biketronics electronic hookup for $410 and sell your crappy HD head unit on ebay for $575. Best return for my money ever! Sounds better and I have $165 for beer. oh and I have a 16gig usb drive hooked up to the sony head unit so I never have to change cds or listen to crap radio. The Hardon Karma radio from harley blows! Don't waste your money on speakers unless you are going to change the whole damn thing. throwing upgraded speakers on the stock unit has nominal results.
