Redline oils

RE: Redline oils
I'm kind of cheap - I use Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny and change that once a year. I use their 20W-50 synthetic in the crankcase and change that every 5K (along with the filter, of course). As for the wet clutch and primary chain, I personally think synthetic is a bit too slippery for that application and prefer to use any good brand of 20W-50 dino there - Pennzoil has been cheap in 5 qt containers at Wally World - been using that since new (13K now). Cheapest place to find Red Line is almost any out of state mail order dealer - you save the tax and usually pay shipping - if you order case lots of their motor oil, it's usually a good deal. You'll not need that much tranny oil - order 2 qts at a time.

I don't know if this is true, but my local Harley dealer said if I run anything other than HD oils it voids my warranty. What has everyone else heard?

Mobil 1 V-twin in the engine, Redline Heavy Shock in the trans, and Redline MTL in primary. Would have gone with Redline in the engine, but was able to pick up Mobil a little cheaper, and their both high quality synthetics. Bought mine at youroilshop.com since I can buy Mobil and Redline and the K&N filter all on one website -- plus their website is easier to use than myoilshop.com.

"I switched to Red-Line and my bike gained 30hp, my bald-spot filled in, and chicks dig me again"..some of these posts are funny when it comes to oil....HD,Red-Line, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, etc, etc....take your pick, they're all good..and for a Low-Tech machine like a Harley they're all adequate.
