Man, I hope my mileage gets better. I have 550 miles on my 103 RK Classic and right now I'm getting about 35 mpg. combined.

I fill up at 220 miles or less. I always seem to get 37.5 MPG. Worse when it gets below 70F.

Your mileage should improve at around the 5000 mile mark as the engine gets broken in. Of course, a lot depends on your riding style load, and environmental conditions.

I have a 2009 flhx streetglide ride daily. 11,000 miles i have put as much as 5.9 gal in fuel light comes on at 39 miles. at 12 mte (mile to empty) lo reading comes on have went another 8 or so miles. didn't want to push...lol topped off at 5.9 or so gal. at that time mte recalulated to 247 miles. i have a 10" longride sheild if i have stock sheild on and run a couple of tanks full through i have gotten as much as 264 miles to a tank. so i beleive shield, how you ride and roads can make a difference. i ride atlease 50mi per day back and forth to work and i fill up on the 5th day. 6 gal a week. beats a cage any day.

First thing my salesman told me when going over my new bike last year was "Don't trust the fuel gauge." It's stuck in my head ever since.

The light and gauge usually show empty at 5 gallons. I use the extra gallon as a bit of a reserve tank.

I don't think all gas pumps shut off at exactly the same level every time. I know I always squeeze as much as .25 gallon after the nozzle shuts off. I think the 6 gallon fuel tanks will hold a tad more than 6 gallons.

Assuming the tank's capacity is 6 Gallons my experience with the newer touring bikes has been that the "Reserve Light" comes on with about a gallon left and the "Lo Light" comes on with about a half gallon left.

When I fill it all the way up the fuel guage's digital readout says it's gonna be right around 220 miles until I hit Reserve.

That would be 43 mpg average with a cruising range of 260 miles.

That's pretty much the MPG I'm getting riding 2 up at "reasonable" speeds.

That sound right to the rest of ya ?
