Default Rear Tire Hum

My last couple rides (350 miles) I notice that my rear tire seems to be humming at speeds over 60 mph.
Anyone know if there is a problem with the stock rear tires on a 09 King? My dealer already replaced my front 407 with a 408, is there a problem with the rear also? The tire has 7500 miles on it......thanks.

It could be a too tight belt also!?

Do a search on 2009 tire issues. I think they are replacing some of the OEM tires under warranty/recall?

I notice a sound coming from the back on the last few rides I've been on. I thought it sounded like it could have been the drive belt.

My rear is doing the same thing, it is cupping like the front did. The word is that neither Harley or Dunlop are going to do anything about it. Look carefully and I bet you can see cups, usually more toward the side of the tire.

You could be right about it being on the side of the tire. The hum is louder when I lean the bike in the turns.

I would check the wheel bearings also.

Where did you hear that? The Dealer replaced both front and rear on the 09 EGC I had. I hear the rear tire humming now on the 2010 RK I have. I'm watching to see any signs of cupping before I take it in.

I'll be giving my dealer a call tomorrow.
