Default Radio Harness 86 Electra Glide

Would like to install HK radio into my 86 Electra Glide but can't find wiring harness. Newer wiring harness is different. Anyone have success with work around?

You would have to get an 06 or later interconnect and change out connectors to match your setup. Or, you could try by making sure the necessary wires are in your existing harness and just get the connector ends separately.

86 is too far back to make that work well, no hand controls, etc to be used with the HK unit. You can work with a biketronics kit , even though they only go back to 90, you can get a standard sony or pioneer deck from them without hand control options and thier install kit with speakers and it is pretty much plug and play, you'll have to address some wiring though.

when I did it for the 89, wich was also too old for anyone to have a clean plug and play solution , I just bought a pioneer head unit that had the dimensions needed to fit in there and made my own bracket to hold it. For the wiring, one black to ground, one red straight from the battery and one wire from the head unit to a orange wire off the ignition switch ( switched on/off 12v power).

From there you can wire in your speakers and run them directly from the head unit, or you can fab up a mount and run a ARC amp from the head unit and have the amp power the speakers, I went that route and am glad I did, much louder and cleaner sound.
