I wouldn't have worried about that bolt! I just snapped a brand new out da package TORCA clamp last week It snapped at around 35 foot pounds or so. The dang thing is supposed to take upwards of 65 ft-lbs. When that thing snapped (yes I was using a torque wrench) I almost took out my gas tank and air cleaner with that wrench as it about 18" long and it scared the bejezzuzz out of me!

Looks like a great time to upgrade to a Chrome (or black) Diamondback cable.

When you go to remove the cable, loosen the adjustment between the front frame rails. Loosen all the bolts holding the cover on. Go back to the clutch handle and pull it in and let go. You should hear a little snap. That would be the cover. That's the easy way of getting to cover to loosen up without taking something to it. Don't forget to drain the fluid first.

I replaced my clutch and brake lines with Magnum black pearl since I changed out my handlebars. I didn't pull the exhaust either. I cut an allen wrench shorter (short side) to fit between the cover and exhaust and I also used the round head allen wrench to loosen them up.
