I bought my 09 flhtp a couple months back, and it seems to have a problem. The clutch will not fully release when I squeeze the lever in, and I have it jammed hard against the left grip, and nearly leaving a lever impression in it, but when I put it in 1st gear, it clunks hard, and the bike moves slightly. I wait 10-15 seconds, still same. I know it is clutch related because if I start it in gear, it drags and barely turns over before starting. The adjustment is all the way out, and the lever does not even have any play, much less the 1/16" recommended, and still drags and won't fully disengage. Is there an adjustment internally to shorten the needed stroke? I have about 3 months on warranty, but live about 80 miles from the closest dealer, but should I just take it in anyway? Help, I feel like my tranny may come apart every time I put it in gear from a dead stop. Also, before someone tries to tell me it is not the bike, I tried a test. I came to a stop in first gear, popped it in neutral, never let go of the clutch, and put it back in gear 5 seconds later, still hard clunk. Thx. Cricket

 

do you have a manual? if not, get one.... clutch adjustment is under the derby cover on the primary, very simple job. here is a link to a how to.
