Big old school seat
Since searching for Old shool seat yielded nothing. Can anyone point me to a source for one of those big *** old school solo seats? You know the ones almost big enough for two people.
I would need/prefer this to mount quickly on a '02 RKC. Occasionally I have someone on the back so I would need to reinstall the comfy passenger seat.
Thanks

Big old school seats
Those 'big old school seats' (Buddy Seat) used a 'pogo suspension' with a helper spring. The vertical post was filled with grease and supported the seat. There was a zerc fitting at the bottom of the post to recharge it from time to time.
It could be done, but would take a lot of 'cuttin & weldin'!
There is a pix of a '74 FLH in the post about 'second bikes' that shows the seat suspension very well.

I've had a pogo seat on my "70 servi. Not really sure I'd want one on my RK.
What I'm looking for is not so much a true buddy seat but the look of one. Perhaps a police solo with the chrome hand rails and leather skirt.
I've got an extra set of tins for it and I"m thinking about a circa '61 two tone paint scheme over the winter.

Make your own
If you don't find exactly what you're looking for, make your own.
Use a current seat pan as a guide, shape it to your satisfaction. Add closed cell/jell for padding and have an upholstery shop make you a cover/skirt for it. Most A/M stores sell the mounting hardware. You can also weld up the 'hand rails' and have them chrome plated.
This is the way we did it 'back in the day'...some still do it this way.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
