Default Ignition Switch Help... Please

So, I bought the "Auxillary Light Bracket" for my Street Glide. I tore down the bike according to my service manual to install. I got to the part about ingnition switch removal. If you go by the service manual for removal... it tells you to turn the forks to the "left stop", then turn the key to the "lock position" and pop the switch off. Doing that leaves the steering column in the locked (left) position. That makes it impossible to to install the aux light kit. I'm assuming thats why you need the special tool it shows in the service manual for selecting other positions in the switch while the "switch selector" is off. So anyway, since I dont have the special tool for manipulating the switch... I chose to remove the ignition switch with the forks staight-forward and the ignition switch in the "unlocked position". It came apart fine. When I went to put it back together, the switch seemed to install fine, with the "audible click" the manual tells you to listen for. After it was back in, the switch wouldn't rotate to the proper positions throughout the range of motion. It wont go to the lock position, or the run position. I pulled the switch back apart... rotated it trying to "jimmy it" back together. But now it seems worse and the switch wont go all the way back down in now?

Anyone got any tips for getting this thing back together right. I'd appreciate it.

I always use a long flathead screwdriver to line everything back up.

Yep, that video and a flat-head screwdriver did the trick... Got it all figured out and back together. Thanks Dudes!
