Default Road King/SG seat question......

Does anyone know why a seat for a 2006 RK would not fit a 2006 SG? My dumb *** just bought a solo seat off ebay and it does NOT fit. I guess my research was inadequate, I thought it would work.

BTW, anyone want to buy a solo seat....cheap?

Is it completely different? If the front isn't long enough to cover up the wiring, they make a filler piece to extend your tank console.

What kind of seat did you buy. I ran a Danny Gray Big Seat for a RK on my 06 SG.

well, if you bought a stock solo seat from a 2006 flhr, it should fit in there. but, it might be cosmetically short for the front. and, the stock road king solo uses two rear mounting points that the streetglide wouldnt normally have i dont think, since they are one piece seats.

When you put the seat tab in the correct place under the frame in the front, the rear doesn't fit over the mounting posts. It is a beautiful seat and I wish it would work. I will try to get a pic and an ad up tonight in the classifieds here. I want 75.00 plus shipping.

It is not aftermarket, it is an HD seat.

Head,

No, the SG does have the two rear mounting posts, which is why I thought it should work.

I've received seats that had been shipped, and the metal tab that slides in the frame was bent up towards the seat so far, and wouldn't allow the seat to slide in the frame far enough to fit. I purchased a stripper seat off ebay a few years ago. When it arrived, the metal tab was flat against the bottom of the seat. I simply bent it down to the right position, and it fit fine Check to see if this is the problem. If it is, simple bend the tab down to allow the seat to slide in far enough. If it's just the nose of the seat hitting the dash, not allowing the seat to slide in far enough. same solution will work. Bend the tab down just enough to allow the nose of the seat to ride up over the dash and still remain tight.

Can't do this on the newer bikes, the installation is reversed. The metal tab is part of the frame and slips into the seat.
