Glowing Pipes

RE: Glowing Pipes
For those of us who are not fortunate enough to have glowing pipes as standard equipment from the factory, I understand there are several outfits that can help.
Boogey Lights (www.boogey.com) or Custom Dynamics (www.customdynamics.com) will be glad to add a patented LED glow to your ride. Choose the kit that best accentuates your bike; in YOUR CHOICE of neon colors!!!
Be sure to check with HDForums sponsors for your special discounted prices.
Don't be caught without your glow-on !

RE: Glowing Pipes
Hee-hee. I am again resurrecting an old thread!
I'm no engineer but my bro knows a lot aboutcars and he says that if pipe glowing red, then likely exhaust valve is also glowing red dittocombust chamber.
When metal is glowing red it's weaker than in cool stateso glowing red internals wear, weaken, stretch andbend easierthus aremore likely to break or even melt.Combust chamber temps around 1,500 degrees F, steel/iron melt way below that. Removing excess heat quickly is thus a big priority to the engineer.
His advice: find a fixas soon as possible.
PS bought 2008 1200 XL w/oil cooler & thermometer oil tank cap.Have not ridden on any really hot daysyet, will have to wait till spring for that.If heat becomes problem, plan is to go with Stage I kit. Found company www.perma-cool.comthat makes racing accessories & producean inline oil cooler thermostat. Can be purchased on e-Bay.
