Some of the later 2010s did not require the plastic braces between the tank and frame...Harley used a heavier weld to weld the fuel tank tabs to the tank ...The 2011 frame is identical as the 2009s in that area ...The plastic braces are not used on the 2011s...There are not any frame problems that I am aware of.

 

What does one need to do to get banned? I keep trying and trying not to yet I find myslef clicking on stupid A$$ threads like this and continuing to click and read...help me!

I can not find a 2011 CVO SG to check for my self....

Wonder why HD did not have the dealers, put a heavier weld to the fuel tank tabs on the recall, instead of this plastic brace ?

I know on my 2002 Goldwing, GP Sports Honda had to beef up the swing arm with a weld...

 

I would guess partly because of cost. Disassembly, weld, paint, re-assembly. Not to mention quality of work.

 

Well the way Harley has spent / lost money with Buell and MV...ya think maybe they could have trown just a little on us....wishfull thinking....

 

I didn't quote the post I was responding to, my bad. I was responding to the post that asked why Harley didn't just have the dealers put a heavier bead of weld on the fuel tanks at the dealership instead of the plastic upgrade.
