Default HD 7' Headlamp Trim Ring

I just installed this trim ring (69733-05) on my '09 RKC and there is a gap at the bottom of the ring where it doesnt meet. Is it supposed to fit this way?

No, you should be able to completely close the gap but it might take more than one attempt before you succeed. It's a PITA.
Loosen the stock trim almost completely and position the trim ring over it. Then tighten the 2 rings alternatively, until there's not enough room between the 2 ends of the trim ring to tighten the stock trim. You can then completely close the gap by finishing to tighten the trim ring. Here is the result on my bike.

Numerous threads on the subject. I found tighten it then loosen the screw squeeze it and tighten again and repeat and I was able to get rid of the gap. One of the best solutions i saw was a guy who used a one of those squeeze clamps gently to assist.

It is a PITA, but looks good when done, with the gap, some get a whistle when they ride...

I used a wood clamp, the kind that you screw together slowly. When space is gone tightened the screw, didnt have to worry about stripping the screw head. Release the clamp finished. 60 seconds per ring tops.

I just squeezed it and twisted it back and forth and kind of managed mine. Took a couple of tries but got it to touch.

Did you clamp the main headlight? Where did you place the clamp. Top to bottom or side to side. The smaller lights when on without a problem. It's the main light that has me buggered.

You must be Hulk Hogan. I can't get it to budge. I've been messing with it got it a little closer but still a decent gap. I. About ready to put it in a vice. . They were not that expensive so if I screw it up I can always buy another. I'm sure Harley sells a little chrome piece that will cover it up for $1000.
