I put heated grips on my bike about 2 years ago. They didnt work right from the get go. Luckily i found a dealer to replace them under warranty (even though i installed them myself) Since then they worked great until just recently the glue on my throttle grip started to let go. Had to take it apart to reglue it and all the wires inside the grip came apart. If i were to do it all over again i would go with heated gloves.

So when it's below it's 40F you want to be more comfortable? (get in a fricken car) For how long? Long enough to buy extra heated gear. Yea ok, run that by your ol' lady, not me. Or perhaps buy a fricken snowmobile.
Look at where this guy is from. Looks like a snow bunny to me. Lives in Alaska in the summer, until the cold chases him to California.

Anyone know how the heat demons affect the electronic throttle? I am worried that it would melt the plastic controller.

I went the route of having heating elements installed inside my bars that heat the standard grips. That way, I could change out the grips if I needed to. It has a controller that mounts next to the clutch lever and has four heating levels. Works great.

Although I haven't installed them on my '09 yet I have talked to an independent that does it all the time and highly recommends it. He said the TBW is not an issue when I asked about it.

Believe it or not, it does get cold down here in Texas once in a while, So I started out with the HD heated gloves and the certainly keep you warm down in the 30's.

But......they are so damn bulky. Anywho, bought a pair of the gerbing heated liners and they have worked fine so far. Haven't been to a temp low enough to make me pull out the big ones, I suppose the liners will do ok down in the 40's. Got a trip to Big Bend coming up the 1st week of Nov and I guess I'll find out.

I used the grips. There is a company that makes them for bikes and snow mobiles. Approx $45.00. 2 settings.

I ordered the heated jacket liner today that should eliminate the issues with running the wires up my arms since the liner has hook-ups for the gloves right near the cuffs.
Ditto, I have the heated liner and it make hooking up the gloves easy. Once you have the liner and controller adding gloves is easy and affordable. If you are starting from zero, different deal. Just depends on how cold you want to ride. Grips are good up to a point then they don't cut it and you need gloves too. I wish the heated grips came stock on my bike but since they don't I'll stick with the gloves.

BTW, I've got the Gerbings classic which are warm but bulky. I'm upgrading to the G3 which feels great, like a mid weight touring glove.
