Just curious how much front brake you use to get almost 50K out of a front tire? I know when I ride I rely heavily on the front brake to stop and there is not a snowball's chance in hell I could come close to 50K on a front. Not bashing, I'm just curious about your riding style, etc.
40k miles on a tire is amazing! Gotta stick with the white wall tire on a Classic with chrome spoke wheels. It is what makes a Classic a classic (just my 2 cents). I use a SOS pad or Mr Clean Magic Eraser on mine and spend about 5 extra minutes on them while I am washing the bike.

I use mostly front brake (the 70 -30 rule). Never lock them. Mostly highway miles though which could make a difference. Keep the pressure at 36 religiously to keep from cupping. To be honest the tread is getting thin. I'm also not a maniac on the twisties. When you actually ride everyday, commute and pleasure, you learn to be more conservative in the riding style. I'm getting older too .....
I've thought about replacing the WWW's a time or two, but they look so damn nice on the bike and really aren't that bad to clean. When they're freshly cleaned, they just pop.
I agree with you on the wide white walls on a RKC, i use simple green to clean mine, works great.
