Good job hanging in there. It's kinda scary just plowing straight into something like that. But I guess that's the best way if you don' have time to completely avoid the obstacle.
I was doing 70 at 5 am one morning on a poorly lit interstate. There was enough light to reduce the effectiveness of my headlight . Some kind of object-still don't know for sure what it was-appeared right in front of me. I didn't think I had enough time to miss it and didn't want to be leaning when I struck it. I did the same as you and rode straight into and over it. There were 2 big thuds as the wheels hit the object.
The front end went up into the air as it hit the object. I guess (it happened really fast at 70 mph) that as it was coming down, the rear tire hit the object and it went into the air. As the front tire hit the pavement, the handlebars swung quickly left and right for a long time-probably 1 second. It straightened out and I pulled over and checked for damage. The only thing I could see was that both saddlebag lids had popped open. Later I found that the front rim was bent.
I still feel that if I would have tried to avoid the object I probably would have crashed.
