blusmbl and ASQTec, thanks for the info. I figured it was emission related but had no idea that the injectors were actually shutting down. I guess I need to brush up on modern fuel injection systems a bit.

It was much more noticable on my 06 than my 09,and I found it very irritating.

Welcome. I calibrate this stuff on the OEM side for cars so I can share a little.

I could barely notice it by feel on my bike with stock pipes, after putting V&H slipons it became blatantly obvious in both the feel and change in exhaust tone.

It's also a method of tuning the deceleration feel, in addition to the emissions and fuel economy impact.

No, it's because of engine compression. Yes, the clutch causes a solid engagement unlike an automatic transmission, but the slow down is from engine compression. I knew that, just didn't know why it cut out at around a specific speed.
