Default 2008 SG Wheels/Tires on a 2006 EG?

Will a set of 2008 Street Glide wheels and tires fit my 2006 Ultra?

Thanks in advance.

Only if you change out the wheel bearings. For some reason they went from a 1" in 07 to a 25.0mm on the 08's and up. 1" = 25.4.

They also went to Bimbo brakes in 08 so I'm not sure if the calipers are the same size or not or if 06 calipers will mount to 08 wheels. I bet they will, but someone that knows more than me will have to answer that.

Dealer just told me the same thing about the bearings. According to him, the cost of new bearings is around $70/wheel.

I had not considered brake differences. If anyone has any information on this, I'd love to hear it...

You couldn't use the rotors from the 08 wheels

The touring bikes started to come with 11.8" brake rotors in 2008 while your brake rotors are 11.5". So you could swap the bearings out to make the wheels fit but the rotors and belt pulley are different sizes in 2008.

So if I'm reading this right, in order to run 2008 Street Glide wheels on a 2006 Ultra I need to:

1) Change wheel bearings on the 08 wheels back to 25.4mm/1.0"
2) Run the 2006 brake rotors and rear belt pulley

Last question and then I'll go away. Will the 06 brake rotors and belt pulley bolt up directly to the 08 wheel? I'd hate to get the wheels only to stick hundreds of dollars into them to make them work. If I'm going to do that, I'll buy aftermarket wheels right away or just stick with what I've got...

Thanks again for all the responses.

You need to change the wheel bearings from 25mm back to 1" You will need 4 of pn#9247

Yes, you would have to run the rotors from your 06. Yes they will bolt right up. You also want to check the spacers for the front wheel because the 08 wheel's hub is centered and your 06 is not. In other words, both spacers on the 08 wheel are the same size and on your 06 the left and right are different sizes.

As Dawg has mentioned, just get the HD wheel installation kits, they run I think $70 for front, $70 for rear.

I'm running '08 wheels on my '05. And yes, you must run rotors from the year of the bike, not wheels.

Part numbers;

43848-08 00-07 Touring $69.00 FRONT
43861-08 00-07 Touring $69.00 REAR

Ok you say you must run the 0lder rotors .. is this only because they are a different diameter 11.8 vs 11.5 ? or are the 08 rotors thicker or something else? If its only because they are .3 in diameter bigger why couldnt a guy toss it in a lathe and cut the 08 rotor down to 11.5 " ?? reason I ask is that some of the factory custom HD wheels have matching rotors and they would look alot better than a std plain one on the custom wheel.. thanks

and instead of having to buy the 1" (25.4 mm ) wheel bearings and inner spacer for the new 08 wheel and changing them out with a puller ---- why not have a machine shop once again (for a couple bucks) turn the 25.4mm(1') axle down to 25mm on the 2 steps that the bearings ride on and reuse the original axle...or buy an axle for an 08' bike ...(dont know the cost ) all you would need then would be the 08 spacers .. correct ??
