Check the position of the speaker rocker switch if applicable.

As far as the Ipod goes? I had my Ipod on a handlebar mount....then I discovered that the new system will recognize a DVD loaded with music, provided it is created as a data disk.

I put nearly 500 songs on just 3 discs. I use the CD player now, and took the Ipod off.
+! - except I put a 16 gig chip in my 660 loaded with music and run both my music and gps voice through my AUX on my stereo...

I went with the J&M unit (CFRG-HRUC) to integrate my Valentine 1 Radar Detector into my headst outlet. That worked so well, that I added the J&M ZUMO 550/660 unit, which integrates my Zumo 665 to the headset outlet as well. Gotta lot going on in my helmet speakers these days (XM, traffic, weather, phone, radar), plus all the speed zone alerts in the POI file of the 665, but it works well for me!

Switched the 19 and 31 wires and it still doesn't work!!!!!

Going back to play around with the y connector now; if it still doesn't work I'll try 5 gallons of gas and a match!

I had the exact same problem, silence when the GPS voiced for a few seconds, then music plays out of the speakers normally. After countless hours of checking connections, reversing pins on the large connector, etc. I gave up, took it to the stealer. They claimed the problem was an internal broken wire inside one of the five wires inserted in the large plug. It is likely I damaged one when installing/removing them so many times in the troubleshooting process. Check yours for continuity, otherwise spend the $90 at the dealer. Good luck!

As you said it was fairly straightforward, 4 wires and three plugs but ended up being totally useless.
Have you checked to make sure the navigation prompts are not muted in the Zumo?

Just throwing this out there.

I have a 665 connected through the AUX port and the voice prompts do come through the speakers this way. But it really pains me that when I start up the bike without the Zumo on board the HK unit always goes to Aux input if the cable is plugged in. Even though there is no input on the cable.
I have not tried the NIM module.

Yes, I checked the volume.

On my bike I put the aux port on the back of the stereo. It's definitely worth a shot if you know how to solder.

And I've also read on here that the NIM only works with the HD Zumo which REALLY pisses me off as my Dads Zumo is NOT a HD version.

I mailed Garmin about this and they say the Gamin Zumo and Road Tech
(HD) Zumo work with the NIM. However, I'm not having any luck getting my Gamin 660 to work with the NIM. My buddy has the HD Zumo and I'm going to see if that works today.

PLEASE let me know what
happens; I've been wanting to try the HD version but can't find anyone local with one. I've got the 450 (running off the rear aux) and was considering buying the HD version for my dad; taking his 660 and selling my 450.

Thanks in advance!
