Street Bob to Street Glide?
#11
If the street bob fits you, and you like it, why not try a windshield on it? I have both the SB and the SG. You can't go wrong with the SG, but that seems like a huge upgrade to block wind. I have a take off shield I can put on my SB that does wonders. And it's height adjustable. I can look over it vs through it.
Maybe visit a dealer and see if they have any shields in stock. They will probably allow you to attach one to the bike to see how you like the height.
If that doesn't work, test the SG as suggested.

I know people do alot of bike camping on non-touring, I'm not in any way saying it's better or worse either way...but he already has been considering those bikes, and it was just food for thought...

I agree with the OP. For longer trips and for the camping thing, start looking for a touring bike. Test ride them all, and choose the one that fits. I rode my brother-in-laws Electroglide Classic before I bought my SG. Thought it was a little top heavy for me with all his crap in the tour pac. I go with just a sissy bar bag, and I am glad with my choice. I can add on anything a EC has, but have'nt yet. No need to. Have fun shopping.
