Default I don't mean to open a can of worms...but

Sorry this is a three part question.

1. Do you have a 2009-2010 Ultra with slip-ons and air cleaner?

2. Do you run a fuel managment system such as a fuel pak, race tuner, power commander ect?

I have been told that the newer bikes will compensate for changes.

3. Is a fuel managment system a waste of money?

don't hurt to have a tuner, but never seen proof that ya need one, bike will still run great without no coughing like if it was too lean and plugs read the same. your call

Yes I have an '09 and no I no longer have a tuner. The Ridemaxx tuner I use to have stopped working.

My Ultra Classic has a Stage 1.

2010 with 103 kit, vance hines powerduals, TTS tuner. Mine was running too hot with just the generic download. Tuner added 4 foot pounds of torque and cleaned up a weird hesitation at lower RPM's.

I would find it hard to believe that Harley Davidson would engineer their bikes so you could have a short cut to a stage 1, and not have to spend more money. They won't even put handle bars on their touring models that are usable.

2010 Ultra Classic, Stage 1 Air cleaner, Screaming Eagle Street Performance 4" slip-ons, Harley Stage 1 download and my bike runs great!

No tuner, other fuel management.

No expert but I've been cruising these threads for a while. From what Ive read in magazines and with people on the forum, its not required to remap or get a turner. With the 02 sensors installed the bike is made to automatically adjust everything to retain a stock tune. That being said, due to EPA standards and Big Brother looking down everyones throat, the stock tune is pretty lean and leads to alot of heat issues and a loss of power. The majority buy the tuners in order to get away from the stock tune when they do their stage one. Alot of it depends on the money you want to spend I suppose. Just a few things Ive picked up along the way, and I could be incorrect in a place or two. Ride safe and Keep it upright
