Default Tour pak removal

I have a 2009 EGC and I want to remove my tour pak. Do I need to buy different or additional hardware? Where would the antenna go? Thanks in advance.

There are a few different antenna options that can go in the fairing or you can get an antenna kit to re-mount it on the back between the saddlebags and the rear fender. If you only want to remove the tour pak, there is no hardware to buy. If you want to be able to take it off and put it back on as a detachable setup, there is a kit available to do that.

Do the holes on top of the strut covers not look odd when you do this? And how difficult is it to remove the pack?

You will need to disconnect the one antenna cable from inside of the tour pak and remove it through the rubber grommet.

Since there are no lights in your EGC tour pak it is fairly easy to remove. The best way I've found is first removed the 4 bolts that fasten the tour pak to the mount and then remove the mounting bracket itself. So that you don't damage the paint on the saddlebags, it's best to take them off before removing the mounting bolts on the tour pak bracket. Some may only open the lid but I perfer to remove the saddlebags completely.

Then, you gotta buy the RK rear signal bar to relocate your tag.

Interesting. There is more to it than I thought. I never even looked at the tag bracket. When I bought the bike the S.O. rode on the back all the time. Now she would rather follow on her own. I always hit my foot on either the backrest or the bag lid.

The tag bracket does become an issue... I chose to install a SG taillight bar and mounted a Kuryakyn curved lic frame underneath. H-D also sells a tag bracket kit. Someone already mentioned the RK taillight bar.

If you don't buy the entire detachable tour pack bracket kit you will have to get the strut covers that will work with the 4-point(or 2-point) docking hardware; or I suppose you can leave them off. I got caught by that one.

It appears that Harley permanently attached the licenses plate mount to the later model tour pak mounting bracket on purpose so they could sell you a re-locator kit for the tag.

They've thought of everything haven't they.
