My buddy runs rienhart true duals, i run stock head pipes with S.E. slip ons. Same bikes, same year, engine everything. Ive riden his and it just feels gutless. Certainly sounds good, just no bottom end. When we are riding threw the hills he cant keep up either when pulling big hills at 60-70 mph
There isn't that much difference where he wouldn't be able to keep up with an identical bike. If he can't keep up it's not the duals that's causing it. If anything, the duals may drop the torque slightly down low but not so much of an issue at 70. Maybe he doesn't know how to ride a Harley. Maybe he's scared to keep the rpm's where they need to be.
Which ones are the best bang for the buck? Does anyone have the Rush ceramic coated pipes? Does the ceramic coating really reduce the heat?
I appreciate any help I can get making my decision.
Best bang for the buck would probably be the Fulsac conversion. It uses most of your stock headpipe but gets rid of the pipe on the right side. Yes, ceramic coating will help with the heat. Not a bad idea if you want to shell out the bucks. But, the duals and a good tune will reduce the heat on the right side a bunch. Left side will now be hotter, but easier to deal with than 80% of the exhaust on the right side in a stock set up.
Have you looked at Bub? My area is pretty "sterile" when it comes to aftermarket that isn't SE or Rinehart, but I have read many good things about them. I know the V&H Dresser Duals get good marks, but I see your bike is an 08, and I know little about pre-09 tourings.
I use to paint the inside of my straight pipes on My 73 Sportster with High temp paint.
I DID keep them from blueing...but of course over time they did turn somewhat blue but not bad

Agreed....I picked up a kit and added power cones....love it!
