I don't know which generation ZUNE you have, but the earlier ones were hard drive. It don't take long before the hard drive locks up because of the vibrations. That's what happened to mine after about a month on the bike anyway.

I am jumping in a little late on this thread, but I bought a Slacker G2 off ebay.
I am not going to give a write up or commercial on it, you can go to the slacker website to check it out, but if you just like classic rock or country or rap or pop or classics or whatever, you can choose from premade stations or make your own stations and have hours and hours of music. When you get bored of the songs its playing on a certain "station" you connect to any wireless internet and change out the music.
It will play all day on a charge.

my i pods hard drive is broke!!!! had the classic 80gb one. looking for better alternatives and don't know about all this modern bs, how many songs does that lil chip thing hold? is that a flash drive, what about mp3 discs? any help appreciated, took me forever to download 500 songs from limewire and now they are all gone since I didn't back em up? any help appreciated. anybody wanna sell me some mp3's with southern rock or classic rock? Thanks
Hey it s me again. Listen. I just switched out the head unit on my bike to a Sony marine radio with a rear USB out on it. I was using a Ipod Nano before but hated it being on the handle bars plugged into my AUX in port on the front of the stock radio. Well I routed this USB plug from behind the fairing and between the forks where the big bundle of wires is on the right side of the bike. I plugged in a 4 gig (thumb drive, flash drive, jump drive)(same thing) into it and Bada Bing Bada Boom, music, and the beauty of it is you'd never know it's there. You can get these flash drives at Best Buy or any computer store for about 15.00 and up depending on capacity. I paid 25.00 for a 4 gig one that retracts back into the holder when not in use. As long as you have a USB port your good to go. I don't know how you had your Ipod plugged in but I'm guessing it was through a USB port. You can use Mp3 discs but if your going to take the time to make an Mp3 disk why not just dump the music onto one of these little drives and forget the rest. When your done you can un-plug it and put in your pocket or if you do what I did leave it there and like I said before you'd never know it was there. Let me know if I can help>>>
