Goodbye Harley-Davidson Hello BMW
It's a bit sad to leave the Harley community, but we have now traded in our belowed Ultra ElectraGlide to a brand new BMW R1200GS 2011.
Me and my wife really loved the Harley, but after 60.000km in four years we felt that we wanted to trade it to a newer one. One big reason was to get ABS brakes for security reasons. But the trading cost here in Sweden to a new 2009 FLHTCUI is almost 16.000 USD, and we can't really justifie that cost for 4 years of riding.
So instead, for 3.700 USD we left the Ultra and rode home on our new BMW instead. It's a completely different bike, but the pillion comfort is not far from the Ultra.
We are confident that we, maybee five years from now, will go back to an Ultra (hopefully HD Europe will adjust the crazy prices) , but until then.
Thank's to you all for all interesting reading, and communication on this forum.

sorry to hear that. GS s are amazing bikes - ive owned an 1150 since 03 and we both love it and have many happy memories. They are more managable at slow speed than the Hog but comfort over long distance we would def opt for the Ultra no doubts.

Good luck...Happy trails....It is a bad time to trade anything now...I have a friend wanting to get rid of his Goldwing...no bites...I have decided to keep mine and make necessary upgrades...When i pay for it i will buy something else and keep the FLHTC.

There is only a 6% customs fee for import. The rest is a horrible price level based on HD beeing a very exclusive bike in europe. At least here in sweden the sales of new bikes has droped considderably over the last years. The are a lot of new 2008 and 2009 bikes on the showfloors. But only with small price reductions.
Best regards
