Ive rode Harleys since I was 19, I bought a GS in 07 and I couldn't click with the bike or the BMW crowd.. I felt like I was riding an ATV and the weird clicks, ticks and taps coming from the engine made me think it was gonna come apart at any minute, not to mention the final drive failures they were plagued with.. I will say, off road was something I loved about the GS and wouldn't mind having another one at some point in my life. It was the only time in my 21 years of riding that I wandered away from HD, it only took a year and 7000 miles on the BMW to make me sell it and get my SG.. No Regrets.. Good Luck with the GS

I guess you did what was in your best interests so best of luck. I have no experience with BMW but good luck with your airplane in any case.

You must have a really loud exhaust. Clicks, ticks and taps is all I can hear on my Ultra Classic.

Yes I do and a loud stereo...

Because the heads are sticking out the side of the boxer engine and not tucked under the gas tank like on a Harley, its alot louder and more noticeable... At least on my GS it was..

Interesting choice, I'm curious why you didn't go with a RT/LT/GT?

It would seem to be a closer match to an Electra Glide (from a touring perspective)

I looked at BMW's and Honda's (ST1300) for a while before buying the HD, they're all good bikes.

The main thing is you are still riding. Enjoy the new ride.

Be aware that the antenae ring around the ignition that reads the anti-theft chip in your ignition key can fail. If it does you are stuck !. It happened to me 150 miles from home. The ring is not owner replaceable, takes special dealer tools. This tech is one of the reasons I traded for my 2010 ultra classic. Good luck.
