My compression is 10.5 but now you have me worried..I'll recheck it tomorrow and maybe call FM to see what they say too if I can find the time.

I did note it was definitely on the low end of the scale of the guage I use. One of those cheap little round ones.

What are others running theirs at? type and gap?

Running the NGK 8cpre i think it is, one colder than NGK reccommended harley plug

Knock sensing still works, 10.5 comp pistons, 103 etc gapped at 0.9mm

Cant tell if the colder plugs do anything

Well, I'm so obsessive, I had a cup of coffee and then went to the garage and pulled the front plug and measured it, carefully. It's set to .024~5. YesterdayI measured the rear and dropped the plug from head height, as it was still so finger hot as I took it out, after I had just changed the oil. I didn't think it hit the electrode and changed the gap, but just in case I measured the front this time, and it is also set at .024.

If I get a chance I'll call FM and ask, but I'm guessing if they are both set that way they do it for a reason.

I'm glad I pulled the plugs anyway, just to get a gander at them and they look better than my pre-107 build ever did.

FYI my service manual for a stock 96" 2007 EGC calls for .038 - .043, that's .97 - 1.09mm fir the meteic equivalent.

I'm interested to hear what you come up with. If its anything other than normal gap, I now have a concern when I take it in for regular maintenance.

Yes yes, I know do it yourself, and I often do but sometimes its easier to just let them do it if you're busy, on the road, etc.

But if FM uses a gap thats materially different, I can at least tell the tech what it needs.

You'd be surprised how many people just remove new plugs from the package and just install them assuming their good to go.

Although, I'd be surprised if FM did this. there is no real danger in running the gap a little tighter, I don't know there is any benefit either.

The ignition systems in these bike is quite sufficient and I'd bet the gap is figured into the ION sensing system.

Old Hippie, if you dropped that spark plug you should replace it as it can be internally damaged but still look ok.

We generally set set the plug gap just under .030 in most 107 applications
