Default Dunlop American Elites for 09 Touring Bikes? Need Info!

I found several posts about the delivery dates being pushed back on these tires several times in sizes for 09 bikes but no comments about the tires themselves.

Does anybody have info on what the American Elites are rated for? For example can they handle the same weight loads as the 407/408's? I just want a tire that performs as well as the 407/408, can handle similar weights and doesnt cup after a few thousand miles.

I've already switched to the 408 front due to cupping and now my rear 407 is cupping badly and if trying to get the dealer to step up and cover part of it.

Im thinking I might wait and get the American Elites but was looking for more info on them.

I don't have any data. I ordered based on past excellent experience with Dunlop Elite III's on my Honda Valkyrie and assuming the American Elite for Harley touring size tires...at least the size for my Ultra....will do the same excellent job. I ordered a rear tire from Jake Wilson about 6-8 weeks ago for $152.99 including free shipping. Supposed to be available end of the month....that's tomorrow.....hmmmm. Local Harley dealer replaced my front tire with the 408 for a 50% price reduction and free installation due to the cupping issue. Charged 50% based on the useage I got from the 407.

My 09 has about 5700 miles on it and I noticed today that my rear is cupping pretty badly also.

i have the 408/407 combo, only 10,000 miles but they look perfect and have behave very well. this might be the first time i stick with stock rubber when it comes time to change.....

I had my American Elites install last week. The Spec. are the same. Only have a few hundred miles on them but they ride and handle great. All new tires handle better than the old tires they replace. The jury is out on if they are better than OEM. If I get 12,000 miles on a rear, I'm happy!! The only negative is it only comes in black wall. I wanted to change anyway. One thing I did on the change is replaced the valve stems with 90° stems. I have the 09 wheels!!

I'll be trying these tires next on my '09 RK. Hope they give me the mileage I got from the D407/408's - I got outstanding wear from them, but the price of them is absurd. Will try out the Elite III's for a change.
