Default Road Glide buffeting--solved

My new-to-me 2008 RG came with 2 shields, both H-D. One stock height, one -2 inches. I bought bike for long-distance so wanted to solve the buffeting. The way it was set up caused my eyeglasses to vibrate in the full-face helmet and 500-mile days were fatiguing. I liked the fit and finish of a buddy's Clearview and decided to take the plunge.

Unfortunately their long list of blems (usually minor scratches) didn't include the combintion of features I was looking for. Each one is made to order and takes 3-4 weeks. Look in the blem list first and they'll ship it immediately. They have a liberal exchange policy (just don't take off the protective film) if the shield's not the right height.

Got mine yesterday, well-packed, good instructions, wellnuts MUCH better than HD. Easy installation, fit and finish perfect.

Now for the riding test. You know how you put out cash and you HOPE it's worth it, but you're not sure? This truly exceeded my expectations. At 80mph, can hear the music, no more glasses vibrating, much calmer, all without adding lowers.

Specs about me and the bike: 6'0" 32" inseam, tallboy seat, Street Glide bars, stock height re-curve Clearview, can barely see over (wouldn't mind 1/4" taken off the top).

Your mileage may vary, but I'm a happy camper. :-)

I am a bit shorter but I have the same one on my bike(should have got the shorty)but I too can now hear the music very well, with it only turned up about 1/2 way. I can also hear automobiles coming up beside me on the highway. It did cost a bit more but yes the hardware is much better and the shield is so much thicker it does not vibrate while sitting in traffic. NO REGRETS HERE!!

Same here. I have the stock height Clearview on my '08 Road Glide and the gentle recurve made a noticeable difference. I was also getting updraft along the sides of the tank that rattled my helmet; a set of fairing lowers solved that problem. Very comfortable ride now.

I have the Clearview also. It was the first purchase I made for mine some time ago. I had clearviews on all of my sport tourers and was very pleased with their performance. Lowers added to the bike make a huge difference. Glad it worked out for you.

A 1" over stock Clearview created a good pocket for me. I'm 5' 10" with a 30" inseam. Also, the lowers made even smoother as others have said.
